The executives were evidently planning on cutting at least $800 million in payroll by the end of next year. While that would have been just under a quarter of the company, it still represents a major downsizing. In retrospect, it’s increasingly looking like letting Musk be the bad guy may have been a major motivation for Twitter’s execs

How to Manage Online Reputation Crises

Image
Online reputation crisis happens when any kind of negative information related to your company starts spreading. A single negative review is not a reputation crisis. But if that customer’s negative experience with your company is being actively discussed on several social media channels, turns into memes, and gets shared among friends – that is a reputation crisis. Reputation problems occur not only as a result of unsatisfied customers. Unhappy (past) employees can voice their frustration in public. Or a malware attack can result in unfortunate misunderstandings or even data leaks. There may be many reasons for a reputation crisis, in fact, so many, that hardly any brand can consider itself safe from one. Social media has given negative comments wings. It is too easy to suddenly see your brand name mentioned in a negative context all over the web, whether your business is big or small. That negative footprint may take years to get rid of. While any business is dreading facing a re

Musk’s Twitter Deal May Be Subject to National Security Review

WebProNews Musk’s Twitter Deal May Be Subject to National Security Review The Elon Musk/Twitter drama has taken another turn on news the deal may be subject to a national security review. Elon Musk has made headlines in recent weeks over what appears to be an about-face on his stance on the war in Ukraine. Some of this statements have appeared to be pro-Russia. What’s more, as  TheStreet  points out, Musk has deep ties to China as a result of so much of Tesla’s production being centered there, and some of Musk’s Twitter investors are from China and Saudi Arabia. It’s still too early to know what the US government will or will not do, but if it chooses to investigate, it could create

Jill has the right attitude – persistence, one step at a time, $15 here and there – it all adds up.  So if you too dream of "passive inc

Hate "rejection?" Try this...

Image
Have you been "rejected" lately by a prospect or client? I put it in quotation marks because there is another way to think about what many call "rejection." When someone chooses not to work with me (and it happens all the time), I like to think of it as "information" instead of rejection ==> just one more opportunity to learn something about my market and how I am perceived so I can improve it. In this short clip from a recent Office Hours (which comes with my Simplest Marketing Plan), I tell the story of how one of my clients used a recent "rejection" to learn something that, in the end, was more valuable than the project itself would have been! Watch it here:   In this case, it was all about the language used to describe the services. You must make sure it resonates with the actual language your best prospects use when they describe what they need. The two have to match.  And sometimes the only way to make sure they match is to l
