A Marketing Tip from My Yoga Teacher

Listen to this issue here ๐Ÿ‘‡

Have you ever noticed that when you don’t think something will work, it doesn’t?

Then you get frustrated waiting for it to work, so you get discouraged and stop doing it. And then of course it doesn’t work, right?

This is one of the things I was meditating on earlier this month when I attended a 5-day yoga retreat with my awesome teacher, Meg Shuba

On Day 2, as we started our morning practice in the beautiful Glass House (pictured with Meg in it, below), she asked us to close our eyes, interlace our fingers and place them, open-palmed, over our hearts.

“This is unshakeable trust,” she told us.

What do the words "unshakeable trust" mean to you? Share here.

Now, I tend to be more practical than “woo-woo.” But in that moment, I had a bit of an epiphany, which can happen on a yoga retreat. ๐Ÿ™‚

As it was happening, it occurred to me that unshakeable trust might be the missing element in your marketing.

Because when you don’t trust that your marketing actions will work, you give up too easily. And then, as you predicted: it doesn’t work.

But what if you start with unshakeable trust?

What if you did each marketing action – your content, your outreach, your networking - all of it - with unshakeable trust?

  • Trust in yourself that you can do it.
  • Trust that the marketing does work when you do it - even if it’s not instantaneous.
  • And trust in me, that I know what I’m talking about.

Could you – will you – try that this week (and then next week too)?

It is with unshakeable trust that so many of the SMP and SMP+ members bravely took on the “Every Day in May” Challenge.

They posted to LinkedIn every weekday in May.

And because marketing works when you do it – especially with unshakeable trust – some of them landed new projects and new clients.

But that’s not all. Here are more “side effects” reported by those who took on this challenge. Daily posting is:

  • Building their confidence
  • Showing they can do something that seemed impossible before
  • Building their community
  • Giving them new ideas
  • Breathing new life into their marketing
  • Attracting new followers and connections

Plus, when I asked at the SMP+ Outreach Club how everyone was feeling about the challenge in one word, they said:

  • Inspired
  • Empowered
  • Accomplished
  • Motivated
  • Confident
  • Accountable
  • Excited
  • Surprised

As you know, marketing is all about timing. We never know when “our people” will be in their “time of need.”

So keep doing your marketing, keep posting regularly to stay top-of-mind to your best prospects. No need to keep doing it daily. Once a week should be enough.

And try it with unshakeable trust – see if that makes a difference.

That’s all for today. Thanks for reading.
